ANDREWS - What started out as a missing persons case in Andrews, soon turned into a capital murder investigation.
According to official documents obtained by NewsWest 9, on June 17, 2014, Franklin Cole, the father of Ethan Cole, reported that Ethan was abducted by Channace Emmery York and another unidentified man.
The next day, on June 18, 2014, a witness came forward to police. The witness said that two men came into an Andrews home, grabbed Ethan and demanded he go with them. The witness said Ethan was put into a white Dodge pick-up truck which was missing a front grill. That person also told police that York's girlfriend, later identified as Lauren Rodriguez, was in the truck. Both Rodriguez and York are now suspects in the capital murder of Ethan Cole.
On June 23, 2014, another witness was questioned on the whereabouts of Ethan. That man told police that Ethan was dead and he knew where they could find his body. The unidentified man said he asked for a ride from Channace York. When he got into the pick-up, he was met with a disturbing scene. He claimed Ethan's body was in the back seat of the vehicle. The man told police that Ethan was dead and his face was covered with blood. He went on to add that he, York and Rodriguez took Ethan's body to an area in Martin County, off of Patricia Highway. The search of the area had to be placed on hold due to bad weather.
However, on June 24, 2014, Martin County Sheriff John Woodward found a man's body about a mile from where the witness told police they had disposed of Ethan.
According to the affidavit, the body was found clothed with his hands tied behind his back with a cotton rope. After an official autopsy, the body was identified as Ethan Cole. Andrews Police ran some test on York's white Dodge pick-up where a large amount of blood in the back seat had bled through the carpet.
According to the documents, there was also evidence showing an attempt to clean up the blood. But it doesn't end there, officials also found cotton rope in the bed of the pick up truck which matched the rope used to tie up Ethan. The vehicle also had evidence that it had driven through a pasture where the body was found.
York and Rodriguez are currently behind bars facing capital murder charges.
