Arrests Made in Connection With Deadly Hit and Run Accident in Odessa

Two arrests have been made in connection with a deadly hit and run accident that happened in Odessa. Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, 25-year-old Joel Alexander Dominguez and 22-year-old Maricela Moncayo have been arrested.

ODESSA – Two arrests have been made in connection with a deadly hit and run accident that happened in Odessa.

Odessa Police tell NewsWest 9, 25-year-old Joel Alexander Dominguez and 22-year-old Maricela Moncayo have been arrested.

As you may recall, Odessa Police were called out to 8th and Grant Wednesday night just after 9:30 p.m. in reference to a major accident.

Officials say a blue 1970 blue Ford truck was traveling westbound in the 100 block of East 8th Street along with a gold 2004 Pontiac Grand-Am.

We're told a grey 2007 Ford Mustang, which was traveling southbound in the 800 block of North Grant, ran a red light causing a three vehicle accident.

The driver of the Pontiac Grand-Am, 27-year-old Reva Hernandez, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the blue Ford truck, 50-year-old Scott Peters, was not injured.

Both Dominguez and Moncayo fled the scene on foot. Investigators found Moncayo early Thursday morning on East 48th Street while Dominguez was found at Odessa Regional Medical Center.

Dominguez has been charged with failure to stop and render aid as well as manslaughter. Moncayo has been charged with failure to stop and render aid.
