A special event was held on Tuesday to hand out some big gifts to several local agencies.

Conoco Philips hosted this year's Bad Boy Blast event to honor fire departments from Howard, Ector, Andrews and Midland counties.

Each department was given $100,000.

Odessa Crimestoppers was also given a $12,000 check.

This comes after several sponsorship organizers raised the money.

One of those organizers said they were surprised to see such a great response.

"We never dreamed that it would come to be such an event. We had 150 sponsors, 12 different companies set up and cooked for 3 days. The response is overwhelming. The community is awesome. They're the reason that we raised $112,000," Loretta Seghers with Conoco Phillips, said.

Bad Boy Blast is hoping to see even more support from West Texans for next year's event.
