Teenager Killed in Big Spring Accident

BIG SPRING - A Big Spring teenager is dead following an accident early Sunday morning .

Police say 15-year-old Shelley Lopez was ejected from the vehicle. According to the investigating officers, the crash happened in the 1300 block of East 4th Street around 5:30 am.

Police say 17-year-old William Green was driving a a Ford F-150 going East on 4th in the right lane. It appears Green began to fall asleep and a 16-year-old girl in the front seat grabbed the steering wheel as the vehicle was veering toward the curb.

The F-150 then lost control, went sideways and began to roll. That's when Lopez was ejected from the vehicle. She was airlifted to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa where she died.

The other people in the vehicle, 18-year-old Charles Green, 17-year-old William Green and a 16-year-old female, suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to Scenic Mountain Medical Center.

At the time of the accident, police say none of the occupants were wearing their seat belts.

No charges are pending.
