MIDLAND- Wednesdays car accident on loop 250 near Midkiff in Midland, left a young girl fighting for her life. 38 year old Donny Roberts crossed into the median and went into oncoming traffic. He slammed head on into a white SUV injuring all three inside. The worst hurt was 8-year-old Jaycie Pacheco who is recovering at a Lubbock hospital.

"She has massive internal bleeding. From what I understand she has bleeding up into her brain and that was from the fracture in her skull, Cavazos.

Melanie Cavazos is a family friend who knows little Jaycie from softball. She says Jaycie can only see out of one eye and doesn't talk right now. She uses her eyebrows to communicate. The softball team that Jaycie is on, is standing right behind her.

"We've got softball girls all over the United States. It's a pretty tight community, so they are sending pictures and prayers to her. Her mom puts the phone up to the one eye she can see out of, and she raises her eyebrows to show she's acknowledging that, Cavazos said

The two others in the car were Jaycies Grandmother who was taken to Midland Memorial with non-life threatening injuries. Jaycies three year old little brother was in his car seat during the accident.

"The car seat did exactly what it was suppose to do. It held him perfectly. He just has a tinny little scratch on his neck not really noticeable, Cavazos said.

Cavazos said jaycie's parents are holding up really well, and are not going anywhere.

"They're like any parent would be. They're not leaving her side. They literally have not left the hospital, Cavazos said.

Doctors are expecting Jaycie to be in pediatric ICU For a week or more. The family is asking the public for help paying medical expenses. An account at Southwest Bank has been set up. Account # 1067168.
