MIDLAND - It was a special day for Habitat for Humanity.
They broke ground on affordable housing as 54 brand new homes are in the works for low income families.
They will be located on the corner of Cloverdale Road and South Jackson Street in Midland.
"What Habitat is doing here is by creating 54 homes is giving 54 families the opportunity to have that joy and that peace of mind. And I think that's more important than anything," Midland City Councilman, John B. Love, III, said.
"To see all that's going on and it's a pretty special community. Things happen that don't happen in other places. It's obvious. Homes make a difference, especially for children," Alynda Best, Director of Habitat of Humanity in Midland, said.
The project will help Habitat for Humanity continue to build more affordable homes.
