LEA COUNTY, N.M. – A Longview, Texas, man is dead following an accident in Lea County.
The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon on U.S. Highway 62/180 near milepost 66.
New Mexico State Police tell NewsWest 9 at 2013 Chevrolet pickup was traveling eastbound when a 1989 Toyota was attempting to exit a parking lot. We’re told the Toyota failed to yield the right of way causing the accident.
The driver of the Toyota, 29-year-old Craig Pentland from Longview, Texas, was killed in the accident.
Officials say failing to yield the right of way and driver inattention were contributing factors in the accident. Alcohol was not a factor.
