MIDLAND COUNTY – The Midland County Sheriff's Office is sending out a warning about a new scam that has popped up.

We're told the scam involved a male subject calling people at random telling them that they missed their jury summons and they have been fined $1,000. The caller identifies himself as Lieutenant Donaldson from the Midland County Sheriff's Office and tells the person that they can pay their fine by using Paypal.

The Sheriff's Office wants everyone to know that no governmental entity in Midland County uses Paypal.

Officials say do not respond to the call.
