ODESSA – A civilian recruit with the Odessa Police Department has resigned following a Texas Rangers investigation.

Civilian Recruit, Mitchell Dailey, resigned on Monday from his post with the Odessa Police Department.

The following day, Dailey was arrested by the U.S. Marshal's Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on federal charges of sending obscene materials to a person under the age of 16.

In a press release to NewsWest 9, officials say, "Despite the Department's best efforts to screen employees and maintain stringent hiring standards, it is never possible to control one individual's personal behavior. This behavior should not overshadow the efforts and accomplishments of the men and women of the Department who work hard every day in service to our community.

The Department is committed to investigating and routing out all incidents of inappropriate behavior as demonstrated by the efforts of the officers who brought these allegations to light. The Department is committed to maintaining the highest professional standards and demanding ethical conduct of all employees at all times."
