NEAR ROSWELL – One man is behind bars after being arrested following an accident east of Roswell on Sunday afternoon.
The accident happened near Bottomless Lakes State Park, just before 4:30 p.m.
New Mexico State Police tell NewsWest 9, an officer drove up on the accident and saw that three people in the vehicle were all injured.
One person was taken to the hospital for treatment while two others refused treatment.
An investigation showed that the vehicle was northbound on Bottomless Lakes Road when the driver drove on the shoulder, overcorrected across both lanes of traffic and rolled off the roadway.
The driver, who has been identified as 18-year-old Josiah Earwood from Roswell, New Mexico, was arrested for driving while under the influence of alcohol and/or Drugs.
Earwood was taken to the Chaves County Detention Center where he was booked on several charges including great bodily harm by vehicle, aggravated driving while under the influence of intoxicating liquor and/or drugs and careless driving.
