The Texas Department of Public Safety will increase DWI patrols between June 27 and July 7.

According to a release, DPS troopers will patrol high-risk locations at times when alcohol related crashes are their highest.

"As we prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, DPS urges Texans to do their part to help keep our roadways safe during the holiday," DPS Director Steven McCraw said in the release.

The increased patrols are made possible by a grant by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)
