NEW MEXICO - A father of two from Pecos was killed in a tragic accident.
Now, the person accused of driving drunk and causing the crash has resigned from his job as a jailer.
23-year-old Jose Gurule and his friend 45-year-old Carlos Archuleta were killed in the crash last Thursday in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico.
State Police say 26-year-old Justin Romero was driving drunk when he crossed into oncoming traffic on a highway.
Romero hit Gurule head on.
Romero was suspended from his job as a jailer at the Rio Arriba County Detention Facility and resigned on Monday.
Gurule was the father of two baby girls.
They are trying to raise money for his funeral as well as the children.
