MIDLAND - The Midland County Reserve Deputy Sheriff's Association got a big gift from an oil and gas company on Thursday.
Apache Corporation gave the group a check for $10,000.
The money will be used to buy bulletproof vests for the reservists.
Officials with apache said it was something they believe needed to be done.
“There's a need for the Sheriff's Department to protect these reservists, for them to have necessary equipment they need in order to serve the community. It was a need and we reacted to the need,” Michael Mosey, Regional VP of Apache Corporation, said.
The reservists are state certified officers who volunteer to help the Midland County Sheriff's Office with multiple tasks including patrols and making arrests.
