ODESSA - Several pets at the Odessa shelter are being vaccinated.
It's all in an effort to cut down the animals spreading illnesses.
Earlier this month, NewsWest 9 reported Odessa Animal Control was dealing with an outbreak of distemper and parvo.
In an effort to stop the diseases, the city approved a new program to vaccinate them.
Some of those animals are already getting their shots.
Officials say the vaccinations are still in the preliminary stages at this time and will only be done on a case by case basis.
A vet is also being brought in to check on the animals.
