Big Spring Police Seeing Increase in Calls Regarding Counterfeit Money

BIG SPRING - Officials are investigating after seeing an increased volume of calls involving counterfeit money in Big Spring.

Big Spring Police tells NewsWest 9, counterfeit $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 bills are being passed at local businesses.

Officials say they are aware of the problem and are asking citizens to take extra precaution when dealing with money.

Officials say the bills being passed appear to be a different shade of green and are slightly smaller than a legitimate bill. Some ways to check your money is check for watermarks, texture and security strip.
