Four People Killed, One Injured in Afternoon Accident in Pecos County

PECOS COUNTY – Four people are dead and another was injured after an afternoon accident in Pecos County.

The accident happened on Highway 285, 37 miles south of Fort Stockton around 12 p.m.

DPS Troopers tell NewsWest 9, a 2013 Chrysler 200 was traveling southbound, drove into the northbound lane of traffic and collided with a 2012 Kenworth vehicle.

Four people inside the Chrysler, 21-year-old Gilberto Gonzales, 18-year-old Martin Guardiola, Jr., 19-year-old Selene Verneise Leal and 10 month old Gilberto Gonzalez, Jr., were all killed in the accident. All were from Roma, Texas.

We're told that Leal and Gilberto Gonzalez, Jr. were not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the 2012 Kenworth, 55-year-old Clifford Brewer of Mesa, Arizona, was injured and taken to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
