Six Year Old Child Airlifted to Lubbock Hospital After Shooting in Ector County

ECTOR COUNTY - One child was injured after a shooting on Friday afternoon in Ector County.

The shooting happened in the 16000 block of South Highway 385 around 3 p.m.

The Ector County Sheriff's Office tells NewsWest 9, a six year old male was taken to Odessa Regional Medical Center Hospital by private vehicle after being shot in the left shoulder by a 15-year-old sibling.

We're told the child's injuries appear to be non-life threatening.

The child has been airlifted to Lubbock Covenant Hospital for treatment.

Officials say the case is being investigated as an accident.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
