PECOS- Pictures of backed up sewers in Pecos were sent in to NewsWest 9 from a viewer. A problem that the City Council needed to address.

"The primary reason to make changes or additions to the infrastructure is because of age. It hasn't been attended for in a long time. Because of growth in addition to age that's why this project is so necessary," Enciso, said

Victor Enciso is with an engineering company who presented the proposal to council Thursday night. The original price tag was close to a million dollars. Enciso told them that the city will be saving money from what they originally thought. The total cost of the project will be $719,320.

"Bids came in and over 100,000 less than the original estimate. So we're going to be able to save the town a substantial amount of money," Enciso said

The sewers with the most problem are over by the Love's Truck Stop by junction 285 and I-20. The City Council approved the cost for the repairs with no problem, once they heard the cost was lower than anticipated. The construction will start soon now that they have the green light.

"We're very excited. We've been working on this project for the last year or so. Finally it has come to realization that we will begin construction in about a month's time," Enciso said.

Enciso tells NewsWest 9 that the repairs will be done to the existing system, so there will be no water interruptions to businesses or citizens in Pecos.
