MIDLAND - The Lamesa Road Project in Midland is using a brand new type of paving.
It's called "Roller Compacted Concrete."
The City of Midland has never used it before but officials tell NewsWest 9, it's more efficient and durable.
"It's a much faster way of placing concrete than conventional concrete and it's also more efficient so it becomes less expensive for the taxpayers in Midland to put this in. We use specialized heavy duty pavers in a special mixing device that makes it a lot quicker," Jan Prusinski, Executive Director of the Cement Council of Texas, said.
A mile and a half of Lamesa Road is using this type of paving in all four lanes.
Officials tell NewsWest 9, the City of Midland is looking at using it in other road projects.
