HOWARD COUNTY-  On Saturday at the 11th Annual Bad Boy Blast Sporting Clay Event, people came out to raise money and fire guns.

"ConocoPhillips and the oil and gas industry here in the Permian Basin, we all like to be apart of the community and help out where we can," Hudson said.

Joey Hudson is with ConocoPhillips, they put on the benefit each year.  He tells NewsWest 9 that in the past 11 years over $1.3 million has been raised which benefited the local police.

However, this year, the money will be going somewhere else.

"Previous years, was donated back into the law enforcement agencies. This year, we're doing volunteer fire departments for Andrews, Ector, Midland and Howard County," Hudson said.

With well over 100 sponsors helping out, Wade Pinson with Mesquite Oil Tools is helping out with food. He says the event just keeps getting bigger.

"It's really grown and I think they've added a couple new rotations this year. I think they still had interest when they were full and sold out. So it has really grown," Pinson said.

Overall, Pinson said it's a great cause and a great networking opportunity for the area.

"I think it's a great fundraising opportunity. Everybody comes out and it's great support. The money goes to the volunteer fire department this year, I know those guys really appreciate it," Pinson said.

Organizers tell NewsWest 9 that they anticipate $200,000 will be raised this year for the volunteer fire departments.
