LUBBOCK-  NewsWest 9 received the arrest affidavit Thursday afternoon for 43-year-old Epifanio Guzman. The document states that Guzman was arrested Tuesday for indecency with a child. The bond was set at $750,000.

Guzman was sitting in the Howard County Jail Wednesday afternoon when a body was found in Big Spring. On Thursday, NewsWest 9 was on the phone with Lubbock police when the confirmation came in that the body belonged to Guzman's wife, 41-year-old Rachel Guzman, who has been missing since Friday.

"Medical Examiners Office did just release that it was in fact Rachel Ann Guzman. We'll be waiting autopsy results," Sgt. Jason Lewis said.

Lewis says Guzman's body was found in a rural area in Big Spring.

"At this point, all that I can disclose is, it was in the city limits. It was a rural part of the city limits. There were no houses or anything around it. It was pretty well hidden," Lewis said.

With Epifanio Guzman is already behind bars in Big Spring on separate charges, Lewis said he is a person of interest.

"He would be someone that we would want to discuss this with. Anytime something like this happens, we obviously talk to people who share their residence and are married. Trying to get information from them, if they are a suspect or not. They are someone we try to get information from," Lewis said.

Lewis told NewsWest 9 the investigation is moving quickly and he hopes for a conclusion very soon. While Big Spring police assisted Lubbock Police in the investigation, Lewis now says Lubbock P.D. has taken over.

"Detectives are working on the case as we speak. So hopefully we will be able to gather the evidence and try to put this together as quickly as possible," Lewis said.
