ODESSA - Medical Center Hospital is seeing some big upgrades.

The Sterile Processing Department now has the latest sterilization equipment.

That includes three automated instrument washer disinfectors and also an advanced ultra-sonic cleaner that is used to clean the DaVinci system arms.

The department recently moved to a re-modeled area.

It's all because of the increasing population in the Basin.

"Currently, the volume in the Permian Basin is growing rapidly and we want to be proactive, we want to be ahead of the game, we want to be prepared to handle our volume and that's part of the reason why we made a decision to increase the size and increase our ability to process many instruments," David Williams, Director of Medical Center Hospital Sterile Processing, said.

On average, the department cleans about 300 instrument sets daily.
