Man Set on Fire While Watering His Front Yard in Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, N.M. – One man is recovering in the hospital after being set on fire while he was watering his front yard.

The incident happened Monday night in the 1300 block of West Church in Carlsbad around 10 p.m.

Carlsbad Police tell NewsWest 9, a 42-year-old Carlsbad man was watering his yard when he was approached by two white males on bicycles.

The two white males threw a flammable liquid at the man and a lit cigarette on him.

The man was taken to Carlsbad Medical Center and later transported to an area hospital for treatment.

We’re told the man sustained burns to his upper body and face.

Police are following up leads and looking for more information about this case.
