HOBBS, N.M. – One teen is dead after police responded to a call in Hobbs late Thursday night.
Hobbs Police were called out to the area of Selman and Byers in reference to a fight in progress.
When officers arrived on the scene, they did locate witnesses who saw the fight.
Shortly after officers got on scene, Lea Regional Medical Center reported that 16-year-old Daniel Garcia was brought to the emergency room with a gunshot wound.
Garcia was airlifted to University Medical Center in Lubbock where he later died.
Officials say during the investigation, 18-year-old DeAndre Gonzalez was arrested on murder charges. 17-year-old Santana Serrano was also arrested on charges of accessory to murder.
We’re told that more charges could be filed in connection with this case.
Both teens are behind bars at the Lea County Detention Center.
