MIDLAND – Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place earlier this month in Midland.
As you may recall, the shooting happened in the 500 block of West Cowden on May 15.
Midland Police tell NewsWest 9, the investigation revealed that a 14-year-old male, drove 38-year-old Shermon Valentine Ranson to the 500 block of West Cowden and fired multiple gunshots through 54-year-old Alfer Lee Hemphill’s front door.
We’re told the 14-year-old ran out the back gate of the complex after the shooting and went back to Ranson’s vehicle.
Ranson then provided the handgun used in the shooting to the 14-year-old and told him to fire shots in retaliation for a past drug deal Ranson was involved with.
Hemphill was later transported to the hospital and airlifted to a Lubbock Hospital where he later died.
We’re told Ranson and the 14-year-old male are facing murder charges.
