Odessa Man Indicted After Being Accused of Shooting, Killing His Girlfriend

ODESSA - An Odessa man, accused of shooting and killing his girlfriend back in March, has been charged.

24-year-old Eric Holguin was indicted by a grand jury on two charges.

He's being hit manslaughter charges and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon/family violence.

As you may recall, the shooting happened back on March seventh on West 23rd Street.

Police found his girlfriend, Kimberly Root, with a gunshot wound to her neck.

She later died from her injuries.

Holguin told authorities he was examining the gun and thought it was empty when he pulled the trigger.
