One Person Killed in Hobbs House Fire

One person is dead after a weekend house fire in Hobbs on Friday night. The fire sparked up on Carter Road around 7 p.m. We’re told when officials arrived on the scene, the majority of the home was already engulfed in flames.

HOBBS, N.M. – One person is dead after a weekend house fire in Hobbs on Friday night.

The fire sparked up on Carter Road around 7 p.m.

We're told when officials arrived on the scene, the majority of the home was already engulfed in flames.

Firefighters tried to get into the home but couldn't because of the intense heat and explosions from two small propane bottles that were inside the home.

When officials put the fire out, they found one person was dead.

Officials were unable to identify the body and the body has been sent for an autopsy.

Officials say the person who lived at the home has not yet been found.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the home was a complete loss.
