This week is National Infant Immunization Week.

The Ector County Health Department is educating parents on the importance of getting their children immunized.

Despite the recent controversy regarding vaccines, they are said to be doing wonders for public health.

“There’s been some allegations that vaccines can cause autism or other ailments and that’s really never been proven, so we want to re-emphasize that receiving vaccines is so much more safer,” Gino Solla with the Ector County Health Department said.

Free vaccines will be given to infants until May 3, as long as certain requirements are met.
