Donation helps Food Bank Garden keep growing

Fresh produce can sometimes be a  privilege not everyone can afford, but the High Plains Food Bank in Amarillo wants to change that.
In 2009 the non-profit planted a garden but they say it takes a lot of money to keep it going.

That's why Cargill donated close to $4,000 dollars to the cause Saturday morning.

"This year what we're going to do with the money they gave us is completely redo our irrigation system. To really make it even more efficient than it already is and reduce the amount of water that we use to grow the food that we do," said Justin Young, the Nutrition Education Director at the Food Bank.

In 2013 the Food Bank was able to deliver 7.2 million pounds of food to the the 29 counties it serves.
