HOBBS, N.M. - A Hobbs man finds himself behind bars on several charges after police say he shot at a woman.
Fernando Medrano is charged with aggravated battery of a household member, criminal damage to property and shooting from a motor vehicle.
Police were called out to a shots fired call early Wednesday morning at an apartment complex.
When they got there, they didn't find anyone but they did spot an orange car with bullet holes to the driver’s side.
A short time later, they got a report of a woman screaming for help in an alley.
Police arrived on North Stevens and heard the victim screaming for help and running away from a man.
Police were able to get some information from the victim who was so severely beaten that she had to be transferred to Lubbock for an internal injury.
The victim told police she and Medrano had crashed.
She then said Medrano he got mad at her and began beating her.
She was able to get away but that's when she says Medrano started firing the gun.
Police found Medrano later that day when he reported his car stolen.
He denied the entire thing.
