KAUFMAN, Texas - An 85-year-old woman has been found dead in a North Texas home after she apparently was attacked by pit bulls living inside the residence.

Kaufman police on Tuesday identified the victim as Dorothy Hamilton. An autopsy has been ordered.

Capt. Ed Black says it appears two large, very aggressive dogs attacked Hamilton. Investigators seized eight pit bulls, including the two dogs suspected in the attack discovered Monday afternoon.

Hamilton's son owns the dogs and had been keeping them inside the residence for several months. Police say the dogs were in a bedroom but apparently broke through a door to reach the victim. Her body was found in the living room.

Police didn't immediately say who owns the home. Nobody has been charged.

Kaufman is 30 miles southeast of Dallas.
