ODESSA- Crime scene tape, worried neighbors and a lonely hat lying in the street is what remains of a deadly shooting on Snyder Street in Odessa Thursday.

"Shortly before 5:00 this (Thursday) evening, Odessa Police were responding to a fight in progress call," Andrea Goodson, Public Information Officer with the City of Odessa, said.

While officers were headed to the scene, they received word that shots were fired. NewsWest 9 learned there were two gunshot victims. One of the victims was 28-year-old Shon Nelson Beck. He died after being taken to Medical Center Hospital by ambulance. The second shooting victim was a 20-year-old Joshua Tolviar, who remains at MCH with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are currently talking to him and other neighbors to get a better description of the shooter.

"They are still talking to witnesses, they are talking to Mr. Tolivar, getting his statement. Talking to everyone who was involved," Goodson said.

Authorities say it was hard to get an accurate description of the suspect after the shooting.

"Everyone who was on the scene just kinda fled. So it's trying to figuring out the who, where and how they went," Goodson said.

The crime scene was expanded after NewsWest 9 got there.

"We started seeing more evidence and they are trying to follow that evidence here. Keeping the integrity of the events in place," Goodson said.
