Shooting in Odessa Turns Fatal, Police Searching For Shooter

ODESSA – An afternoon shooting in an Odessa neighborhood is now a homicide investigation.

Officers were called out to the 900 block of Snyder in reference to a fight call just before 5 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Andrea Goodson, Public Information Officer for the City of Odessa, tells NewsWest 9 that while officers were on the way to the scene, the call turned into a gunshot call.

We're told that one person was taken to Medical Center Hospital by ambulance and another was taken by private vehicle.

The person taken by ambulance, 28-year-old Shon Nelson Beck, died at the hospital. The victim taken by private vehicle had non-life threatening injuries.

Police are currently looking for the suspect involved in the shooting, however, no suspect description was given by authorities.

Officials are conducting interviews with witnesses and following up on leads at this time.
