MIDLAND - A Midland man tried to speed his way out of trouble.

The high speed chase topped speeds at 130 miles an hour.

We're told it all started when police tried to pull over 29-year-old Marcus Valdez on Highway 80 Thursday morning.

But instead, he kept going.

According to the affidavit, Valdez topped 130 miles per hour as he led authorities on a chase.

He eventually stopped on Highway 191 where police found a woman in the passenger's seat, along with open bottles of alcohol.

Police say the woman admitted that she and Valdez drank several beers at an Odessa bar before heading back to Midland.

The report also says Valdez has a lengthy criminal history including burglary, evading arrest and DWI.
