BIG SPRING – The Big Spring Fire Marshal’s Office, as well as the Big Spring Police Department, are investigating after a series of dumpster fires were set.

According to officials, the fires were set in the early morning hours on Monday in the Coronado addition of Big Spring, which is located in the southwest part of the city.

Officials say at least five fires were set in both roll out and metal dumpsters.

Authorities are advising citizens to be on the lookout for unusual behavior in their areas.

According to Big Spring Fire Marshal, Carl Condray, “It is sad that when school lets out, we see an increase in these types of fires and is a clear indication that we need to be more vigilant and know where our children are at all times.”

If you have any information about the fires, you’re asked to contact Big Spring Crime Stoppers at (432) 263-TIPS.

We’re told the fires are felonies and the persons responsible will be prosecuted.
