North Carolina Fugitive Arrested by Lone Star Fugitive Task Force

MIDLAND COUNTY - A fugitive is behind bars after being apprehended by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on Friday morning.

We’re told 46-year-old Raul A. Cortez-Cantarero was arrested in the 7700 block of West County Road 116.

Cortez-Cantarero was wanted by the Leland Police Department in North Carolina for Strong Arm Sodomy, sexual assault, assault by strangulation and extortion.

The arrest was made after the United States Marshal Service in Wilmington, N.C. notified the task force that Cortez-Cantarero was living in a trailer in Western Midland County.

Officials say Cortez-Cantarero was arrested without incident.

Cortez-Cantarero is currently behind bars at the Midland County Detention Center.

Bond has not yet been set.
