SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - A 28-year-old Santa Fe man who pleaded guilty in toe-biting assaults on a former girlfriend is headed to prison.

A state District Court judge on Monday sentenced 28-year-old Daniel Anaya to 7.5 years but with two years of the sentence suspended. Anaya pleaded guilty in November to charges that included battery and assault.

Anaya bit off parts of the ex-girlfriends' toes, including the tip of one and part of the nail on another. The incidents happened in late 2012 and early 2013.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports that Anaya still faces charges in a third incident, one which occurred in Albuquerque when he allegedly broke into the victim's home and used a cigar cutter to remove part of one of her toes.
