Odessa Man Acquitted on Four Charges by Reason of Insanity

ODESSA - An Odessa man was acquitted on four charges Thursday, three of them were by reason of insanity.

44-year-old Delbert McNeil was accused of stealing an Odessa College police officer's car, attempting to run over two officers and leading police on a chase.

He had been charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a peace officer, aggravated robbery and evading arrest.

He's now been ordered to the North Texas State Hospital in Vernon for evaluation and commitment following the verdicts.

The judge will now determine what kind of treatment McNeil will receive.
