PRESIDIO – Customs and Border Protection Officers in Presidio made another big drug seizure on Thursday.
We’re told the seizure was made just before 6 p.m. when a Dodge Dakota entered the port from Mexico. An officer selected the vehicle for a secondary exam.
The vehicle was then x-rayed and authorities received high “Buster” density meter readings consistent with hidden contraband.
A drug sniffing dog also alerted to the presence of drugs.
We’re told the drugs were found in bundles in the quarter panels and fuel tank of the truck.
The driver, 41-year-old Carlos Alberto Silva Parra of Chihuahua City, Mexico, was taken into custody and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement - Homeland Security Investigations agents to face charges for the failed smuggling attempt.
