HOUSTON (AP) - A man blamed for a 2013 drunken driving wreck that killed an off-duty Harris County sheriff's deputy has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The sheriff's office says 23-year-old Andres Munos-Munos (MOON'-yohs MOON'-yohs) was sentenced Wednesday for his role in last May's death of Sgt. Dwayne Polk.
Munos-Munos pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter.
Investigators have said a vehicle driven by Munos-Munos ran a red light and hit Polk's personal truck. The 47-year-old deputy was in uniform and driving home following an off-duty job.
Polk had been with the Harris County Sheriff's Office for 16 years.
