NEAR EUNICE, N.M. - One person is dead following a morning accident north of Eunice, New Mexico.
New Mexico State Police officials tell NewsWest 9, they were called out to a two vehicle accident on New Mexico State Road 248.
We’re told that a 2005 International Commercial vehicle, driven by 57-year-old Rafael Antonio Ochoa Samaniego, was traveling eastbound on State Road 248 when a 2006 GMC Pickup, driven by 46-year-old Robert Allen Armacost, were approaching a slight curve in the roadway.
Officials say the GMC drifted over the center line into the opposite lane of traffic and the GMC struck the International Commercial Vehicle.
As a result of the accident, Armacost died at the scene. Samaniego was uninjured.
The cause of the crash has been determined to be driver inattention.
