Las Cruces Woman Accused of Bringing Drugs Into Lea County Detention Center

LEA COUNTY, N.M. - A Las Cruces woman is in hot water after she was caught trying to bring drugs into the lea county detention center.

29-year-old Susanna Martinez is facing felony charges of bringing contraband into a place of imprisonment and drug distribution.

Authorities got a tip that she was attempting to bring drugs into the facility Wednesday morning.

When Martinez was questioned, she denied have anything on her at first, then she admitted to having 15 strips of the amphetamine suboxone hidden inside her body.

Martinez said she was bringing the drugs to her husband, who is an inmate at the facility.
