CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) - Two children, ages 6 and 2, have been fatally shot as bullets tore into a South Texas house during a late-night attack.

Corpus Christi police Capt. Michael Alanis said Monday that nobody has been arrested. Police are trying to determine a motive and whether the gunfire around 11:15 p.m. CST Sunday was a drive-by shooting.

Alanis says the victims were a 2-year-old girl and a 6-year-old child, whose gender wasn't immediately released. Alanis had no information on whether the victims are related. He says the girl's father was at the home, along with several other relatives, during the shootings.

Police didn't immediately say whether the children were in the same room or asleep when they were shot.

Both victims were pronounced dead at hospitals. Their names weren't immediately released.
