Reece Albert Inc. is preparing to begin a project to improve the intersection of Highway 385 and North Loop 338 north of Odessa. The first step in the project is to make the intersection a four-way stop on Monday, Feb. 17.
The project will improve safety and relieve some congestion by adding traffic signals, turn lanes and illumination to the intersection. It will also prepare the intersection to accommodate another project that will widen Northeast Loop 338 to four lanes between Yukon Road and Highway 385 on the northeast side of Odessa.
In the interest of safety for both the traveling public and workers, there will be a four-way stop condition at North Loop 338 and North Highway 385 throughout the project. After setting up the four-way stop on Monday, Feb. 17, Reece Albert crews will begin working on the project the week of Monday, Feb. 24, weather permitting. The project is scheduled to be completed in late summer.
Once construction begins, the intersection will become a four-way stop to improve safety for the traveling public as well as for the contractor’s work crews. The speed limit on Highway 385 will drop to 65 miles per hour in the work zone. The speed limit on Loop 338 will drop to 60 miles per hour in the work zone.
Motorists are asked to obey all flaggers and all warning signs in the area. It is possible that there will be increased law enforcement present in the work zone.
