HOBBS, N.M. - An Odessa man is in hot water after being arrested in Hobbs.
21-year-old Dessie Burton is being slapped with multiple charges including abandonment of a child and possession of a firearm by a felon.
That’s after police noticed a vehicle jumping the curb of an Allsups traveling across multiple lanes of traffic then hit a traffic light.
All the while, Burton's five month old infant was in the back seat.
A stolen firearm was found in the car and Xanax was found on Burton.
He admitted to police that he had taken the drug earlier.
Barton says he was going to put gas in the car but forgot to put it in park before getting out.
