Inmate mistakenly released from the Potter County Detention Center

Posted: Updated:

Amarillo, TX - An inmate has been re-arrested after mistakenly being released from the Potter County Detention Center on January 23rd.

Potter County Sheriff Brian Thomas says Adolphus Hollingsworth was released due to a clerical error.

Hollingsworth was living in Amarillo and was wanted for a cold case murder from 1997 in Tennessee.

A worker tried to have him transferred to Hamilton County, Tennessee, but incorrectly contacted Hamilton County, Texas, who said they had no record of a warrant and to release him.

Hollingsworth was re-captured in Ohio on January 25th.
