NewsWest 9 spoke with the family of Greg Donaghe on Friday after police confirmed that his body was found near the Petroleum Museum on Thursday.

"It's been devastating. I don't think I'll ever forget, your time stands still on that moment when your told that because that's our last hope," Greg's sister, Heather Wurtz, said.

Wurtz tells NewsWest 9 they were first told the father of three was missing on December 28 of 2013.

But Thursday night, the family got a phone call they will never forget. Wurtz says Midland Police told them they are still unsure how he ended up there.

"It's very much a mystery, the police. I have not viewed it but they have the video of him leaving Wal-Mart, him walking out of Wal-Mart and walking out from that parking lot and honestly that is truly the only lead that we have," Wurtz said.

Right now, the cause of death is still unknown. However, the family is sure that Greg would never take his own life.

"We did not consider that he committed suicide and we did not consider that he would just not walk away from his family, so it's very alarming," Wurtz said.

The family also told NewsWest 9, they will not be taking donations for the funeral cost. They are just thankful for the community support during this hard time.
