UTPB's Thomas Feeney Wins Heartland Conference Player of the Week

With a combined 49 points in road victories against McMurry and St. Edward's, UTPB junior Thomas Feeney has been named the Heartland Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for January 13-19, the conference announced Monday.
Feeney had 18 points and a team-high four assists in the Falcons 81-66 victory last Thursday night against McMurry in Abilene.
He came back two days later in Austin, scoring a season-high 31 points to lead all players in a come-from-behind 85-71 win over St. Edward's that saw UTPB out-score the Hilltoppers 25-9 to end the game. He added eight rebounds and handed out four more assists in helping the Falcons improve to 11-4 on the season and 5-2 in conference action.
Feeney now ranks second on the team through 15 games with 16.3 ppg and leads the Falcons with 63 assists on the year. He leads the team with an average of 16.7 points in conference games and has scored in double-figures in 6-of-7 Heartland games and in each of the last five contests.
He joins Dwayne Soders (twice) and Phadarius Taylor as UTPB players recognized by the league and the Falcons have had a weekly award representative four out of nine weeks during regular season play.
