Jay Cantrell, principal and head basketball coach at Paducah High School has been terminated from his position.

The decision was made by school board members on Monday night, after Cantrell was arrested on Friday.

Allegations of inappropriate relationships with students were brought to the attention of the Texas Ranges on December 21st.

Less than two weeks later, Cantrell was arrested and booked into the Terry County Jail. He was later released after posting a $200,000 bond.

The Texas Department of Public Safety says Cantrell was arrested on four counts of indecency with a child and one count of sexual assault of a child.

A statement posted on the Paducah ISD website confirms Cantrell had been placed on administrative leave during the investigation.

This isn't the first time Paducah has had trouble with teachers.

Back in 2010, Paducah's basketball coach, Charles Willson pled guilty to a  charge of an improper relationship between an educator and student.
