ODESSA – It's official. Thomas Crowe has been named the new Superintendent of Schools for the Ector County Independent School District.
The unanimous decision was made during a special meeting on Tuesday morning.
With the unanimous vote, Crowe will be paid a salary of $255,000.
"What a great Christmas present," Crowe said after the meeting. "It feels great. We have a great staff and a great [leadership team]. And I think this also helps them to know there won't be a lot of changes after Christmas. They know how I work and we'll be ready to go."
According to an Ector County ISD Press Release, Mr. Crowe boasts a 38-year career in education. He began as a math and physical education teacher and a coach. In 1993 he became the superintendent of schools in Willis ISD in Willis, Texas, a position he held for four years. He then moved to Katy ISD in Katy, Texas to become the deputy superintendent for administrative services. Finally, he served as the superintendent of schools in McKinney ISD in McKinney, Texas from July 2004 until he retired in December 2009. Since then he has done educational consulting with other school districts in Texas.
